Curriculum

The uniqueness of Holy Family Academy lies in its classical, Catholic curriculum. In essence, classical education inspires the student to seek, to discover, and to be formed by the truth. As Catholics, we know that this search for truth leads, ultimately, to God, the Creator, because the truths discovered in the universe are but the 'seeds' of the Eternal Word in His creation. Thus, the Academy's curriculum directs the student to discover both the natural truths of creation and the supernatural truths of Divine Revelation, contained in the Catholic Faith, which complete and perfect natural truth.

The study of history, the major classic works of western civilization, and the truths of the Catholic Faith form the heart of the Academy's curriculum. With the Incarnation being the pivotal and central event in history, this study brings the student through the course of history from the classical world of the ancient Greeks and Romans, through the founding and spread of the Church and the flowering of Christian civilization in medieval Europe, to the study of America and the modern world. In this way, the Academy's curriculum immerses the student in what is true, excellent, and beautiful in human civilization, training the student in right judgment, or how to think correctly, like the great thinkers and saints who produced Christian civilization.

The curriculum in grades seven and eight is designed to give the student the necessary background and foundation for the high school program. Therefore, it is highly recommended that the student begin the Academy's course of study in grade seven.
