New to the faculty of the Academy, Mr. Tony Leccese teaches Good Books II, Grammar, and Composition; Government and Geography; American Civilization; and Philosophy. He is also the co-director of the Physical Education Program and will be assisting with junior varsity soccer this fall. He holds a B.A. from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, and has completed his course of studies for an M.A. in Philosophy from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. On the topic of the Socratic Method, Mr. Leccese has written, “Eschewing a mere passive receptivity of information which often takes place in large classrooms, Socratic dialogue encourages students to wrestle actively with the truth, to examine and give an account for their beliefs, and to make the truths they perceive truly their own.” When he is not articulating the nature of Socratic pedagogy, Mr. Leccese enjoys ultimate Frisbee and kickboxing.
