Holy Family Academy finished strong at the New Hampshire Science and Engineering Expo. The New Hampshire Science and Engineering Expo was held on March 21, 2019 at NHTI in Concord, NH.
120 New Hampshire students entered over 80 projects for consideration. The NHSEE selects 1st and 2nd place winners in 10 categories: Behavioral Science, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computers, Earth and Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics and Electronics.
Two Holy Family Academy students won awards! Sarah Mark, from Goffstown, NH and Grace McCormick from Manchester, NH, both juniors at Holy Family Academy, won 1st place in Biochemistry for their projected entitled Homemade vs. Store Bought Nutrients in Hydroponics. Francis Vicinanzo from Concord, NH, also a junior at Holy Family Academy, won 2nd place in Mathematics for his project Which Team Batting Statistic Predicts Run Production Best?
In addition, the NHSEE awarded 31 Special Awards and Holy Family Academy took home seven of these. Here are the recipients of Special Awards:
* Elena Rennie of Manchester, NH was awarded The Stockholm Junior Water Prize Award; (Effects of Ocean Acidification)
* Emily Lamontagne and Amelia Brennan of Manchester, NH and Emily Palmer, of Hollis, were awarded The US Air Force Research Laboratory Award (Does Temperature Affect the Rate of Butterfly Development);
* Francis Vicinanzo of Concord, NH was awarded Regeneron Science Talent Search Nomination (Which Team Batting Statistic Predicts Run Production Best);
* Sarah Mark of Goffstown, NH and Grace McCormick of Manchester, NH were awarded the RICOH Sustainability Award (Hydroponics: Homemade vs. Store Bought Nutrients.
